Trash cans (perhaps with built in ashtrays) would definitely help near bus stops and corner stores. These tend to be places where people are either waiting (and smoking or eating which generates trash) or purchasing & consuming items that generate litter (lottery tickets, food wrappers, etc.)

yes, good idea. it always helps to clean things up. but who will pick these up? city employees? cdta employees? I believe a way to start would be to place a can in your neighborhood and you could be responsible for the upkeep.

I think this could be a good investment on the city's part.

I agree with you DHR, placing them near bus stops, corner stores and other places were people congregate, eat, or buy things would be a great place to start.

That is done near some of those places now, but the city could start by making sure it is done consistently at all of those places throughout the city.

There never seems to be much litter around city hall (at least that I've noticed), so maybe it's working.
